Another Law Enforcement Endorsement for Duty

Williamson County District Attorney John Bradley suffered another major blow in his bid for re-election today. Jana Duty announced earlier that the Cedar Park Police Association has endorsed her in the race for District Attorney.

We reported last week that sources in both the political and law enforcement arena say Bradley is "toxic" and "no one wants anything to do with him". One thing John Bradley does not take well is being told "no", so in this case, the courage of both the Sheriff’s Association and the Cedar Park Police Association should be recognized and applauded.

Sources close to Bradley say he is laying the political pressure and intimidation on heavy to the Law Enforcement Associations and even called the Williamson County Sheriff’s Association President demanding the names and phone numbers of the board members who voted against him.

According to a release posted by Duty, Cedar Park Police Association President Justin Miller stated “We believe Jana Duty to be the clear choice to represent Williamson County as District Attorney. Jana has proven to be an advocate for law enforcement and justice in Williamson County. The Cedar Park Police Association respects the determination and commitment Jana brings to the office and looks forward to her continued success.”

Law Enforcement is sending a message loud and clear that a much needed change is in order at the helm of the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office.

Another nail in the proverbial political coffin of Bradley for sure. When the po po doesn't even support the DA, that says a lot. Matter of fact, that says it all.

So jb has resorted to his old ways. And he talks about being a changed man...jb, calling the cops and trying to intimidate them is a big no no. John Bradley has pushed people around his entire career. I am a police officer and I support Jana Duty. And trust me, there are MANY more like me.

Thank you for being an officer who upholds JUSTICE and for not standing with the "good ole boys". I know many in this county are ready to see them go!!!

If Round Rock PD were to support Bradley that would say a lot about RRPD. An incumbent, especially "Mr Tough On Crime" John Bradley is expected to get all of the endorsements. That's just the norm and the way it goes. Most Associations go with the incumbent to gain political clout. With the Wilco SO and Cedar Park PD going with Duty, that says a ton about the dissatisfaction with him and the sentiment of most. Knowing RRPD, they will go with him. They are known not to have the intestinal fortitude to break from the incumbent. Problem is, that won't really help Bradley and only hurt RRPD's reputation. Just my two cents.

Round Rock Police does whatever John Bradley tells them to do. That's a well known fact in the law enforcement world of Wilco. Don't count on them to endorse Duty. It really doesn't matter if they do anyway. Like the post above said, Duty taking two away from the entrenched incumbent is huge. Him scoring an endorsement is really not even a win, especially if it is Round Rock.

Don't know about that. After having read some police blogs lauding some prosecutors as 'being friendly towards police' in instances of wrong doing complaints. It was like saying, don't worry about it, it won't go anywhere. So I am just as leary of those endorsements as the rejection effort.
